What We do

Welcome to Advanced Sleep Treatment!

Who Are We?

Advanced Sleep Treatment is a place where compassion and technology meet. We are an accredited durable medical equipment facility for oral appliances based in Silver Spring, Maryland. We utilize high-quality oral appliances to treat patients that have mild and moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), as well as severe patients that cannot tolerate CPAP therapy.

Dr. Tomenko, the founder of Advanced Sleep Treatment, started her business because of her interest in preventative dentistry and overall health. Over time, this interest developed into a passion that looked beyond just caring for peoples’ teeth and into an area where Dr. Tomenko could make a profound difference in the lives of the people.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) occurs when the airway gets completely blocked by the tongue. This usually happens during the night, depriving the body of oxygen and disrupting sleep, often without the person even being aware of it. Sleep apnea can have a detrimental effect on the body and can even lead to death.

Why Should I Get Tested and Treated?

On average, people who receive treatment for sleep apnea increase their lifespan by 20 years and live a much higher quality of life. If you have any symptoms or any of the previously mentioned conditions, it is extremely important that you get tested and treated.

The most common treatment for OSA is CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy. While many people do well with CPAP, there are also many people who struggle with it. The good news is that we have an alternative treatment — we offer custom oral appliance therapy right here at our practice.

What Should I Expect When I Visit Advanced Sleep Treatment?

When patients first step into the office, they are always greeted by our front desk personnel and asked to fill out preliminary paperwork. Alternatively, you can do it ahead of time online before your visit.

Once you get to the office, we will have you fill out our health screener in the clinical area that has been sanitized before each patient by a fogger that kills bacteria and viruses in the air along with the usual disinfection procedures. Preliminary photos and 3D x-rays will be taken by our sleep assistant. We will then perform an exam of your teeth and range of jaw movement, followed by a discussion of your sleep study results.

We offer a variety of FDA-approved appliances that you can choose from for your treatment. We also utilize state-of-the-art 3D scanning devices for a quick and comfortable experience.
